back	Defence against Tsunami
	Here we present a suggestion to build reflectors against destructive tsunamis.
Building of Dikes	For hundreds of years, people were building dikes, to protect them against the power of the sea. Great parts of the Netherlands and northern Germany consist of former sea - floor and were cultivated under the shelter of dikes.
Tsunami	The horrible destruction of tsunamis was demonstrated 2004 in Indonesia and 2011 in Japan. Classic dikes did not protect the people against the tsunami. Why?
Wave	There are two different arts of waves, normal waves and pressure - waves. A normal wave gets higher and shorter, when arriving low water. Then the wave rolls and the energy is broken. But the pressure - wave of a tsunami behaves different! It is reflected by the ground and the surface, as you see on the picture:
Burning Glass	The pressure - wave is reflected by the ground and the surface, acting as a burning glass and concentrating the whole power of the wave to a small window at the coast.
Reflectors	To minor the energy of the pressure - wave, one needs reflectors. See the effect of reflectors in the next picture:
Reflectors	You see on the picture, that most of the energy does not reach the coast, because it is rejected to the sea. The optimal form of a reflector has to be found out.
